Product Description
AAAC (All-Aluminum Alloy Conductor, also called ALMELEC Conductor) is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant overhead conductor. It is made of aluminum alloy wire 6201.
Application
Designed for longer spans and higher tension applications, AAAC conductors are widely used in urban, coastal, and industrial areas due to their excellent resistance to corrosion and lower sag under load. The enhanced strength-to-weight ratio allows for more efficient tower design and reduced line losses.
Applicable Standard
BS EN50182, IEC60189, DIN48201, ASTM B399/B399M, ,EN50182/NF C34-125, GB/T 1179-2008 JLHA1,GB/T 1179-2008 JLHA2

FAQs
The international Harmonized System (HS) / HSN Code for AAAC conductors is 7614.90.00 (Stranded wire, cables, plaited bands, and the like, of aluminum, not electrically insulated, without steel core).
Depending on local country tariff schedules (e.g., India or EU nations), sub-codes like 7614.90.90 may apply. Contact our trade compliance team for full HS code documentation, Certificate of Origin, and customs tariff assistance.
AAAC conductors are installed using controlled tension stringing to protect the alloy strands from surface abrasion:
Unwinding: The conductor is pulled off drums through traveler sheaves using pullers and tensioners without touching the ground.
Sagging & Tensioning: The line is pulled to engineered sag limits based on ambient temperature and span distance.
Clipping-In: Aluminum alloy suspension clamps and armor rods are installed to prevent wear and mechanical vibration fatigue.
Under normal operating environments, the expected service lifespan of an AAAC conductor is 40 to 60+ years.
In humid or coastal locations, AAAC significantly outlasts standard ACSR conductors because its homogeneous aluminum alloy construction prevents internal galvanic corrosion, maintaining structural integrity without requiring grease or core protection coatings.
Yes, aluminum alloy is an excellent electrical conductor. While pure aluminum (1350 EC grade) offers ~61% IACS conductivity, heat-treated aluminum alloys (like 6201-T81) achieve 52.5% to 53% IACS conductivity while doubling the mechanical tensile strength.
This combination of good electrical performance and high mechanical strength makes aluminum alloy one of the most efficient materials for overhead transmission lines.
The key benefits of AAAC conductors are numerous:
Higher Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Superior to AAC.
Better Corrosion Resistance: Outperforms ACSR, especially in coastal areas.
Lower Power Losses: No inductive losses from a steel core.
Higher Current Capacity: Can carry 15-20% more current than equivalent ACSR.
Longer Lifespan: Up to 60 years, double that of some ACSR.
Reduced Installation Costs: Simpler fittings, and a higher strength-to-weight ratio can allow for longer spans (2-15% increase), reducing the number of support structures needed.
Lower Maintenance: Higher surface hardness (80 BHN) makes it more resistant to damage during handling and reduces corona losses.
